2013 Science Summer School with Brian Cox

On Thursday 29th and Friday 30th August, Professor Brian Cox took pupils from East London on a journey with fellow scientists, doctors, and engineers in a drive to inspire ‘British Scientists of the Future’.

Along with the 18 minute “TED”-style seminars, there were discussions, student presentations, and hands on experiments.

The first day’s activities were held at the St Paul’s Way Trust School in Tower Hamlets where Brian is a Patron. For the second day of the programme the teenagers moved across to the innovative Siemens Crystal building in the Royal Dock to hear directly from people involved in engineering. These included the team renovating the SS Robin, the world’s oldest complete steamship which is now based in the Royals, and engineers solving the practical challenges of Crossrail.
