Debate on the causes of poverty in the United Kingdom

Noting that the “electorate have given us a clear message to engage with them, ” Andrew stressed the “generators of poverty in challenging communities across this country is the systems, structures and very processes of government and our continuing inability to encourage joined-up thinking and action in local communities.” Describing how working together and overcoming bureaucracy’s inherent intransigent nature can unite communities to lift themselves out of poverty and transform areas and lives Andrew said: “it is time to grasp the nettle” and begin the process of  “joined-up thinking.”
