Water City Orchestra in a Weekend

This major event saw the culmination of Phase One of the Water City Festival and the formation of the Water City Orchestra. The community Orchestra is to be made up, principally, of people living or working in the area. Amateurs, students, children and professionals will all interact.The event (October 1st-3rd) took place at Trinity Buoy Wharf on the banks of the Thames and opposite the O2 Stadium. This important East London site, with its history of innovation, is a “light house” marking the significance of the river and waterways in the social and economic history of East London. The weekend was generously supported by Trinity Buoy Wharf Trust and the Mercers’ Company.

Repertoire:included Vaughan Williams – The Lark Ascending; a Bollywood Music Meldey; and Borodin Symphony No 2 in B Minor “Heroic”. The orchestra was conducted by Rupert Bond and led by the international violin soloist, Michael Bochmann, supported by highly skilled professional and student players.
